Description: Sterling Silver Filigree Rimonim - Torah Finials, Circa 1950 exquisite Judaica A Pair Of Sterling Silver Filigree Work Rimonim - Torah Finials The central portion of the finials has five-fold symmetry and each finial is topped by a delicate open-work filigree crown made of gold-washed silver. Each finial is hung with 10 gilt silver bells. (Two bells are missing from one of the finials). The rimonim were made in the middle of the 20th century in the young state of Israel, probably by a recently arrived silversmith from Morocco, skilled in the ancient filigree metal working techniques for which the Moroccan jewish silversmiths were famous. Both finials are hand marked near the bottom of the stems. The incised markings are partly indistinct and require a magnifying glass to be read. The markings read: “HAND MADE” and “STERLING” but some of the incised letters are indistinct. The marking are shown in the close-up photographs of the two finials. Length: 28.7 cm ./ 11 5/16 in. Width (max.): 8.2 cm. / 3.25 in. Stem diameter (max.): 3.0 cm / 1 3/16 in. Weight: 192.8 gm each; (385.6 gm. total) / 6.8 oz. Each; (13.6 oz. Total). CONDITION: The finials have no dents; two bells are missing from one finial and one of the tiny bell-hanging rings ia also missing. One finial has a slight lean because its center rod is slightly bent. The light gilding of the silver is a bit unneven.
