Description: There are not many books about Downeast cooking and what’s special about it. Downeast cooking is, in a nutshell, simple, wholesome, and traditional. The people who live here are influenced in many ways by their relationship with the surrounding land and sea and over the years, created meals using whatever food had been grown, reared or caught locally. Many of these recipes were handed down to me from relatives and neighbors and although I may add a slight twist to make it mine, my influence comes from the past. I created this cookbook to celebrate the beauty and bounty of our area and share my pride for my home. What better way to share that pride than through our recipes from Starboard. This book is not all-inclusive of the vast gastronomical delights made at Starboard, but a sampler that I hope will achieve its purpose. I hope you will enjoy cooking and sharing these meals as much as I have creating them.
