Description: Staffordshire England Enamel Trinket Box that says "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary How Does Your Garden Grow?" Approximately 1.5" in diameter and slightly less than 1" tall. A woman in a voluminous long red dress and wearing a bonnet is using her water can in her garden. Don't miss the four "daisies" at the bottom that have smiley faces. The interior of the lid is painted with the rest of the rhyme: "With Silver Bells And Cockle Shells And Pretty Maids All In A Row." On a dark red base with bright gold trim and snap close. Staffordshire enamels are artist signed; I can't tell if this artist's initials are "v.g." or "v.s." It is believed that this nursery rhyme refers to Mary Queen of Scots. In very good condition with no issues that I can see. The lid snaps closed easily and tightly. Please note that I do not have the original box. We did it - we downsized!
