Description: St Sarah Kali and the 3 St Marys of the SeaHoly Medal on Chain This is a very large, round, beautiful and fascinating medal! The medal is 1-1/4" diameter, silver-toned, brand new and very shiny. I don't know exactly where it was made but I think it was made in France. It has St Sarah Kali on one side and "Saintes Maries de la Mer" on the other. Comes gift boxed and with a St Sarah Kali prayer card, Saintes Maries de la Mer prayer card (in English), and a gift bag and tissue paper for gifting. The three "Marys" referred to are St Mary Magdalene, St Mary Salome, and St Mary of Clopas, who were the three women who found the empty tomb that first Easter morning. According to the tradition, when the persecution of Christians in Judea began, the women escaped by setting sail on a small boat, possibly with a few others. They landed on the coast of France and began to convert the people they found there, many of whom were Romani. St Sarah Kali may have been an Egyptian servant of St Mary of Clopas who sailed with them. A variation of the story is that she was a Romani woman who helped the three saints to land and was their first convert. Either way, St Sarah has been adopted by the Romani people as their patron saint. There is a church dedicated to the "Three Marys", which houses their relics, as well as a famous statue of St Sarah.
