He and John were fishermen who left their nets and their father on the shore of the Sea of Galilee when Jesus called them to follow him. He became one of the twelve apostles. Many traditions grew up around his relics, the most famous being the the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain which is presumed to be the saint's burial place. The original of this medal is French, so the spelling of "James" is in the French style which is "Jaques". This is a new medal that has been cast from a vintage medal in my personal collection so it shows all the wear of the original piece. It is made of sterling silver and will come with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, so it's ready to give as a present to someone else or yourself.
