Beautiful brand new medal was made in Italy and is securely attached to a 24" continuous (no clasp) stainless steel chain which slips easily on and off over your head. St Charbel (Joussef Makhlouf) was a holy man who lived a life of unsurpassed purity, obedience and humility in the 19th century and was devoted to the Blessed Sacrament. Born in 1828, he gained a reputation for holiness, was said to levitate during prayers, and many people came to him for counsel and blessings. St Charbel died of natural causes in 1898 and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1977. St Charbel lived in Lebanon and his tomb today is a place of pilgrimage by Christians and non-Christians alike. A message given to us by the Blessed Virgin Mary on July 13, 1985 in Australia mentions bringing St Charbel to the world to bring peace. It may be fitting that Our Lady mentions this little known saint since he lived and died in a war-torn Middle East country where so much blood-shed occurs every day. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper.
