The ship cover is one of a group honoring WW II Ships named for famous Americans. Cover prepared on an Archive Quality Envelope with gum on flap. SS Jeremiah O'Brien: this 441 foot cargo ship was built in South Portland, Maine in 1942-43 and was launched on May 24, 1943. The vessel transported vital supplies to US and Allied Forces overseas during WW II, including the Normandy Invasion. Records note the ship survived the war and was placed in the Suisun Bay Reserve fleet in 1946. She was restored by an all-volunteer group, NLSM, and has been a museum ship on San Francisco Bay since 1979.
