Description: New Iron Machine & Design LLC is proud to offer our new production 1.5"- 8 thread Spindle Thread Protector for the Atlas/Craftsman Series of 12" Lathes. Made of oil-and-solvent resistant modern polymer, this durable part will provide lasting protection to your exposed spindle threads when a chuck or other tooling is not mounted. Hexagonal body allows easy installation and removal by hand without tools, but gives the user the option of using a wrench if needed as opposed to competing designs with a spline pattern. This part has two options available: Closed End models protect the spindle threads and close off the spindle bore to protect the internal taper from foreign materials and display the original Atlas logo. They are available multiple color combinations . Open Ended models protect the spindle's external threads while retaining access to the spindle bore for mounting tooling and operation of the machine while the thread protector is in place . These aren't the cheapest spindle protectors available - but I hope you will see that they offer the most value. These are made with a lot of heavy duty, high quality polymer selected to withstand the rigors and chemical exposure inherent with lathe operation, use a superior hexagonal design, and provide a much better visual aesthetic with the use of the multicolor Atlas logo / text that allows for a touch personalization to your machine. All these factors combine to make this a much more expensive part to manufacture compared to competitor's options, but I hope you will find the modest difference in price to be more than worth the difference. ABOUT US: Here at New Iron Machine & Design LLC we have a passion for the "Old Iron" machines that were used by skilled craftsmen when it was just expected things would be made in America - and made to last. With many of our machines decades old or older, it is only natural that even the best of machines will inevitably require replacement parts and upgrades to keep running for decades more to come. Our philosophy is based on the idea of "New Iron": the combination of modern manufacturing technology such as Computer Aided Design and Additive Manufacturing with a traditional belief that things should still be made in America, made to last, and made to high quality standards. Have an idea for something you think we should offer? We would love to hear from you. New Iron Machine and Design LLC is owned and operated by a two-tour US Army Iraq War veteran.
