VINTAGE FINE PORCELAIN BONE CHINA RECTANGULAR VANITY TRAY WITH LIDDED VANITY JAR IN A BIRD AND FLORAL THEME (Transferware) … THREE-PIECE SET… NUMBERED ON THE UNDERSIDE. UNUSUAL SCALLOPED, MITERED, CORNER, DESIGN. AUTUMN COLOR PALETTE OF BROWN, RUSSET, MOSS GREEN, CARAMEL, PALE CELADON WITH TOUCHES OF CORNFLOWER BLUE. On the underside of the tray is incised markings 859 Printed 23. On the underside of the jar is incised markings 859. Year of manufacture is unknown… Appears to be circa 1950s. This is a fine estate auction piece in very good condition. No cracks or chips . At one time it appears that the tray and the lid rim had a thin gold trim band… That has now faded commensurate with great age. On the underside of the lid underneath the knob is a manufacturing blemish. This is a normal firing flaw that appears at the firing vent hole . I also noticed two very teeny dimples in the fired glazed finish. Neither can be discerned in the posted photographs . None of these issues have a negative effect on the value, beauty, integrity of the piece, or displayability in any way. Approximate dimensions of the tray are 9 1/4 inch long, 1/2 inch high, six and three-quarter inches wide. The approximate dimensions of the jar are 3 inches high with the lid on and 2 3/4 inches diameter at the top. A sweet, delicate charming addition to any decor… In a bedroom, or in a powder room.
