Description: This beautiful silver Jeton from 1603 commemorating the Battle of Sluis and the death of Admiral Fédérigo Spinola. A sharply struck example, with a beautiful gunmetal gray tone combined with splashes of orange and spots of emerald iridescence in the protected fields, this is the only silver example on record that has come to market, a bronze example sold several years ago for 100 euros, however, that example was not only in worse condition but being a base metal strike is more common than the presently offered example. Originally from the Richard Margolis collection, the present example offers a unique opportunity for collectors of not only Dutch coinage but Spanish as well.
