Description: Okay caveats out of the way first- I am NOT a militaria or historical expert All labels like the era and the like are based on educated guesses and internet research So I am willing to listen to those who know better The cap is turn of the century / late 1800 Spanish American War era I assume the 96 is indicating the army regiment, which appears to have been a “Colored regiment” (term used at the time no offense intended) The cord style and the JW Pepper on the lining (a popular instrument maker at the time) indicates it’s a musicians cap, perhaps a band member, bugler or the like. The cap size is small, I think a 6 7/8 Please examine pics
