Description: This original one-of-a-kind painting entitled "Shame" is about Country Western musician Spade Cooley and the tragic death of his wife (portrait in the top music note) by his own hands. The text on the bottom edge of the painting reads, "Bandleader & TV star Spade Cooley killed his wife because he thought she was having an affair with Roy Rogers. After spending eight years in jail, he died (on stage) the day he was released." This painting was from an exhibition called "Hollywood Eats Its Own: Rumors, Death, and Scandal in Tinseltown" created by pulp surrealist David Russell Talbott, signed on the bottom left by the artist. The painting measures 18" x 24", acrylic on a gallery wrapped canvas with the graphic continuing on the sides, 1 & 1/2" deep. Sometime associated with the California Lowbrow scene, Talbott has shown his work across the U.S., and his art has been published internationally. His paintings have been recognized by curators from MOMA, MOCASD, and the Whitney, as well as lowbrow icon's La Luz de Jesus Gallery's Billy Shire and art critic Mat Gleason.
