Description: Soviet Russian USSR Documented Group with Rare Order Of Nevsky Type 1 #420 Comes complete with Orders Book, listing all awards, plus jubilee Orders Book for yet another order of the Patriotic War 2nd class issued in 1985. Also, complete set of all medals' and jubilee badges' Certificates (no medals, but that of course could easily be refilled). And, finally, a very nice original photo of the veteran, clearly wearing all his awards. Research includes color scans of all citations and award decrees. While having a very scarce version of early Red Star #15301 in the complete documented group is already a great catch, add to it having 3-times awardee of Patriotic War 2nd class orders, and you have a very desirable and highly collectable group already. But, of course, the main piece here is Type 1 Order of Nevsky #420. Contrary to common belief that the first 500 orders of nevsky were manufactured with 2 rivets holding the center medallion, there are extremely rare single occurances, which prove otherwise. This order of Nevsky #420 is the lowest numbered known such "transitional" Order, where the serial number is below 500 (and it's not, of course, a reissue), but there are no rivets anymore. A true "Discovery" piece, only now came to light for the first time. The Order itself is in great vintage condition, with all original parts, including suspension, connecting ring and nut. It does have an old enamel chip at the 7 o'clock arm of the star, long since covered by dark thick patina, as well as the rest of the order. Major Berezovsky served as commander of 107th mine-throwing regiment, 3rd mine-throwing brigade,7th artillery division of Supreme Command Reserve. Career officer, he participated in Finnish War 1939-1940, for which he was awarded with his first decoration, this order of The Red Star, which was bestowed upon him by decree of May 19, 1940. This order of Nevsky was bestowed on comrade Berezovsky for successful actions and personal bravery displayed during crossing of Svir river. Very rare complete documented group with several rarities in it. Won't last, and same won't appear on a market anytime soon, if ever...
