Description: Soviet Russian USSR Order of Red Banner KMD, 1942 production. Type 2, "monetny dvor" mintmark. Serial number: 60015. Original silver nut. Comes with Order's book, issued to Kolesnikova A.V., sen. lieutenant medic. The set comes with 2 scans of 2 citations, apparently for the 2 numbered decorations listed in the order's book. According to research, in September 1943, comrade Kolesnikova personally pulled 62 wounded soldiers from the battlefield, under heavy artillery fire. In total, she helped 102 (!) on that day. Twice she was completely covered with soil from the nearby explosion, and was dug out by her comrades. Both times, she would return back to the battlefield and continue fighting!!! That's what this Red Banner is for. What an unbelievable heroic woman! Superb condition, with only a couple of tiny signs of wear on the enamel, and visible gold plating under dark old patina. Highly collectable early WWII Red Banner in such condition, with Order's book, and especially issued to a female!
