Description: Sonobuoy tubes were the protective cases used by the Navy to transport sonobuoys (submarine listening/detecting devices). These tubes are empty scrap, but highly useful for storage of long barrel guns, fishing rods, archery arrows. They make rugged shipping containers for longer items. They can be filled with sand for reusable pickup truck bed weights. These tubes were also used as props in Star Trek movies and shows. Exterior of closed tubes measure 45” long and 7” wide in an octagonal shape with a rounded top and bottom. The threaded lid is a round opening with a 5.5” inside diameter. Round foam inserts available upon request with order. The tubes are empty and shipped with labels and tape on the outside. They are easily cleaned up as seen in the pictures and can be painted. The lid threads on to the case. The case and lid are waterproof, but the lid does NOT make a watertight seal. Tape can be used to easily seal the lid/case seam. The tubes also interlock with each other if multiple tubes are purchased.
