About the guitar: Is made from Mesquite Wood from Abilene, Texas, Mr. West designed and hand made this unique and stunning solid body guitar. Both Sonny West and Tommy Allsup have signed and their signatures are perfect. Has tone and volume controls and has an amazing vintage sound. His guitars always have nice action and solid tone for any style of play...as with all of his guitars, it looks and plays beautiful! Mr. West was undoubtedly one of the greatest influences on rock-n-roll history to date. He penned and recorded 2 of the most popular rock-n-roll songs known around the globe, “Oh Boy” and “Rave on”, which were later recorded by his friend and contemporary Buddy Holly. West is one of the original inductees into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame® and the West Texas Musicians Hall of Fame and is the recipient of BMI's million airplays award. His influence on musicians around the world is still evident today with the likes of Bruce Springsteen claiming “Rave On” as one of the best rock-n-roll songs ever written. On September 7, 2013, over 2200 guitarist convened at Lyme Regis, UK to simultaneously play “Rave On”, breaking the world record for most guitars playing one song. This is an amazing opportunity to own a part of Rock-n-Roll history!Tommy Allsup was also a part of rock-n-roll history. He worked with entertainers such as Boddy Holly, including playing lead guitar on “It’s So Easy” and "Lonesome Tears”, as well as playing with Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys. He mostly remembered being a part of the day the music died when Allsup was touring with Holly, Waylon Jennings, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper when he serendipitously lost a fateful coin toss with Valens for a seat on the plane that crashed, killing Valens, Holly, The Big Bopper, and pilot Roger Peterson on February 3, 1959. Until his death in 2017, Mr. Allsup continued rocking in the US! I will include the 8x10 picture of Mr. West and Mr. Allsup playing together, with Mr. West playing this exact guitar. Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions you may have. All Best Offers welcome! Also, have a look at our other auctions as we are adding new guitars this week. Best-Brad and Team
