Description: SOME CORRESPONDENCE AND SIX CONVERSATIONS by Clyde Fitch. Chicago: Stone & Kimball, 1896. Bound in publisher's characteristic "slubbed" cloth, a style of binding apparently used only by Stone & Kimball, and then only for a handful of titles. First Edition. Author was a successful American dramatist who wrote over 60 plays and at one time had five plays running simultaneously on Broadway. Presentation copy signed by the author, with personal dedication and dedicatory poem:To my dearJosephine Jenkinsfrom Clyde FitchDecember 25, 1896. Smiles are the flowersof our hearts, &Love the sun that makes them bloomthe fairest. Unopened volume, meaning that signatures are un-separated (which I suppose means that the recipient of this presentation copy never got around to reading it, despite the personal inscription!) Very Good condition: binding square and tight, minimal board wear; single strand of characteristic "slubbed" cloth becoming unwoven on rear cover, otherwise excellent; author's dedication in pen on FFEP; interior pages clean, signatures unopened. Small stamp on rear paste-down.
