To determine if your scanner already has the latest software, turn on your scanner and navigate to its "Tool Information" menu. 60693 & 60694 { S/W Ver : 7.13 & LIB Ver : V4.32 } firmware is typically { H/W Ver : V2.30 }60794 { S/W Ver : 4.03 & LIB Ver : V3.02 } newer S/W release (above) is limited by this unit's firmware which is typically { H/W Ver : V1.00 }This CD/DVD will install a specific Cen-Tech USB port driver to your Windows-based PC/Laptop/Tablet as well as install the Cen-Tech programs which interface with the Scanner. Only then, will your PC (through the Cen-Tech programs) recognize/detect/access your Scanner when plugged into a USB port. In addition to the port driver, this installer also installs the software program to update its software to the most recent (and final) version as well as provide the means to download vehicle data from the Cen-Tech Scanner. Detailed Instructions: Normal 0 Normal 0 Installation disk contains (3) folders: Cen-Tech-60693, Cen-Tech-60694, Cen-Tech-60794 Open the folder specific to your Cen-Tech Scanner and *double-click* to run the Maxlink2 installer. During this install, you will be prompted to install the 'STM Virtual COM Port'. The STM Virtual COM Port installs a USB driver so that your Windows-based PC/Laptop/Tablet will recognize your Cen-Tech Scanner when you plug-it into your PC with USB cable. Without this STM Virtual COM Port software, your Windows based PC/Laptop/Tablet will not recognize the Cen-Tech Scanner. Normal 0 *Click* to 'Continue Anyway'. After installing, restart your PC/Laptop/Tablet to recognize the new port driver. On your desktop, you will find (2) new icons. Normal 0 *Double-Click* the MaxiLink2 icon to run the MaxiLink2 program: Normal 0 Plug-in your Cen-Tech Scanner into the USB port on your Microsoft Windows-based PC/Laptop/Tablet. When your Cen-Tech Scanner is recognized by the USB port software, the Red bar (above) will change to Green. *Click* the Scanner Number of your Cen-Tech device: 60693 -or- 60694 -or- 60794 Update Program will update/reinstall the ‘Brains’ of your Cen-Tech Scanner. After *clicking* ‘Select File’, navigate to the Update Folder. For Cen-Tech Model 60693, select: CEN-TECH_60693_V0713_20131223.bin For Cen-Tech Model 60694, select: CEN-TECH_60694_V0713_20131223.bin For Cen-Tech Model 60794, select: CEN-TECH_60794_V4.03.bin Update DTC will update/reinstall the DTC (OBD2 codes) of your Cen-Tech Scanner. After *clicking* ‘Select File’, navigate to the Update Folder.
