His technique involves three main stages. First, he creates the composition with a blend of colors to form a base layer. Then, he applies swathes of paint, building a layered and heavy texture. Finally, he sketches and carves the raised paint. Due to the thick layers, Ilyayev's artworks can take up to a year to fully dry. Ilyayev's colorful and vivid compositions, highlighting light and shadow, evoke the transitions between seasons and carry on the traditions of Post-Impressionists like Vincent van Gogh. His art features swathes of color raised above the canvas, resulting in textured compositions that transform nature into an exciting, joyful, and vibrant force. Ilyayev's works have been exhibited in various group and solo exhibitions across Israel, the United States, Europe, and Asia. He lives in Tel Aviv with his wife, Alexandra, and their children, where he also teaches art.
