Description: Sister, Mary Bertoli, SNJM., is the artist who originated a series of paintings featuring the children of Mississippi. The print that you see in this listing is titled: "No Girls Allowed." This lithograph in hand signed by the artist (see: lower right hand corner). The artist served a community in Mississippi as a Sister in the church. It was there that she was inspired to paint the children whom she served in ministry. Her works are many, and they are all quite endearing. Her sensitivity to children is quite clear if one examines her paintings. They are all beautiful. The frame has been refinished by my own hands, in my own shop. The frame is a charcoal black color, measuring: 21 1/8 inches in width, by 11 1/4 inches in height. The frame is a standard 20 x 10 opening, the same measurement of the art (measured outside of the frame). The art is simply in mint condition. Having examined the art, every inch of it, I find nothing negative to report, nothing at all. This composition is very sweet. It features a group boys who are building their fort. Mind you, it's a boys only club. Hence the title, "No girls Allowed." In my youth we built several club houses. There were at least three actual tree houses, a couple of abandoned barns that local farmers would allow the kids to use. There were several forts put together with odd scraps of wood and pallets, or whatever pre-teen kids could find to build with. To my amazement, they were always built solidly and looked pretty good. It was a wonderful way for boys to have fun and safely express themselves -- Just being boys... This is a wonderful signed and framed artwork by the artist.
