Description: Offered is a fantastic sought after Singer Model 15-91 in beautiful condition. It has a serial # AK92460, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, about 69 years ago. Description: These were top of the line machines, made from the 1930's into the 1960's. This model was one of the most sought after model of its day, and has often been described as one of Singers best. They can easily sew heavier fabrics like Sunbrella, upholstery fabrics, light to mid weight leather, as well as sheers etc. It has dropping feed dogs for fee hand quilting, embroidery, and darning. They were often seen in tailor shops as an alternative to a large industrial machines and some still are today. They also made a line of 15 model Industrial and Artisan sewing machines. The 15 series machines have a straight thread path from the bobbin case to the needle, and can handle a heavier weight bobbin thread than it's 201 counter part. This was the most widely imitated machine on the market, after the patent ran out, with numerous clones coming from Japan, China, Germany and elsewhere. The 15 class raceways and bobbin's are still widely used today. 15-91 Specifications: The machine has a heavy cast iron body. They were frequently purchased for the home sewing industry, tailor shop's and other artisan sewing industries. It is a Straight stitch machine with full reverse feed and adjustable stitch length. It takes low-shank attachments with easy screw-on feet that are very readily available, using a standard 15x1 sewing machine needle. The potted direct drive motor provides near slip free power and has no belt to replace. It has a longer arm than most domestic machine of this era giving a great area for large or bulky projects approximately 8 ¼” long by 6” high. This machine has consistent stitching at any speed. It has a reliable singer rear mounted light. The stitch lengths range is from 6 to 30 stitches per inch and performs flawless.
