Here is the generally-accepted description of a FN comic book (as you can find on multiple online grading websites): FINE (FN): An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose. (I include this description so you can refer to it while following along with my observations below.) Surfacevery flat, mostly clean, still has great shine, and wonderfully smooth to the touchEdge Wearedge wear all falls into the "minor wear" category (not much at all on front)Overall Wearpretty solid copy with at the very worst "moderate" wear (see note on back cover below)Folds/Creasesnone except for faint on on bottom-left backWrinklingminimal -- has been lightly handledCornersslightly blunted (but see note on back cover below)Printing DefectsnoneArrival StampsnoneSpinebook has been gently read before with only minor wear -- see black line that runs down length of spine, and you'll see only the smallest color breaks / spine ticksSpine Rollabsolutely noneTears/SplitsnoneStaplesnot discolored or rusty -- both look good and go all the way through to the centerfold.Back coverslight fading after a half-century, a touch of foxing near upper-left area, stain on lower-left corner ( a touch of moisture? -- easily visible in photos).SmudgesI see none on front; back has a couple of small ones below couponSurface build-upI mentioned the touch of foxing already, back has very light coating, more toward spine where someone would have held the book openInner coversno longer perfectly white, but solid; a touch of foxing along edgesPage colorcreamPage conditiongood with no sign of brittleness -- everything well attached; the stain from back cover also shows on the margins of several inner pages, but no physicial damage.BOTTOM LINEThe book would easily qualify for FN/VF were it not for the stained spot. Everything else is spot on target, but since the FN condition criteria allows for a bit of "staining/soiling" whereas the FN/VF one does not, I started with the FN description, and it became obvious that everything else was better than allowed, so I went with FN+ in the end. Judge for yourself -- you've been given all the facts! It's a solidly mid-grade copy with that one defect preventing it from elevating higher. Looks great in its bag and board, so a nice display copy. Do your research and find the other copies listed out there that claim that they're around this condition, and you'll often find copies that are clearly more worn or wrinkled than this one, or they give you two pictures only and don't even take the time to describe the book, so you're left with no idea of what you're getting, so how on earth would you even know? See what they're asking, and you'll find that this copy is competitively priced. Where do you get more details or camera angles than what I've provided? ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE!
