Description: Very cool travel cup featuring an image of a sikorsky S-38 NC6V seaplane. Metallic blue color. Measures 8" high 3" wide at the top rim and 2 1/2" wide at the bottom. Fits nicely into most cup holders. A couple small nicks on the back upper side of the cup, shown in the last image ************* HISTORY ************* The S-38 was developed from theSikorsky S-34andS-36. The S-38 first flew on May 25, 1928. The United States Navyordered two aircraft (designatedXPS-2) and Pan American Airways was an early customer. A total of 101 aircraft were built, manufactured originally by the Sikorsky Manufacturing Corporation of Long Island, New York, and by the Sikorsky Aviation Corporation inBridgeport Ct. Sikorsky was acquired byUnited Aircraft and Transport Corporationin mid-production. None of the original S-38 seaplanes built in the 1920s & 30s survived.
