MURRAY SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR MINT CONDITION Sharp, Bright, Clean, Tight Book Rich with Illustrations, Period Photographs and Battle Maps Four Appendices; Fully Referenced; Bibliograhy PUBLISHED BY BENEDUM BOOKS IN 1994 OUT-OF-PRINT The 111st and 126th New York Volunteers enlisted in the summer of 1862. These upstate New Yorkers headed off with the intension of “defending the best country that God ever created.” Unfortunately for them, the units arrived at the Federal garrison in Harper’s Ferry where they were immediately captured. The embarrassment associated with this incident followed them along with the epitaph, “Harper’s Ferry Cowards.” It was not until these units bravely served their country at Gettysburg, where they took incredible casualties, that they proved themselves and shook off any remaining disgrace from being captured. This history was the result of five years of searching through archives in upstate New York, the United States Military History Institute library at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and the National Military Park at Gettysburg. Nearly every page includes quotes from letters and diaries, allowing the participants to tell their own stories. This paperback book is signed by the author and is brand new and in pristine condition. Sharp, bright, clean, and tight. Rich with illustrations, period photographs and battle maps. 133 pages. Fully referenced. Bibliography. Track Page Views WithAuctiva's Counter
