HASSAN This brilliant landscape watercolor painting, of a Village in Penang with lush coconut trees and breathtaking mountains off in the distance, is signed by the artist lower left: A.B. HASSAN. A.B. Hassan is a listed Malaysian artist of considerable note. Born in Kedah, he is the brother of the famous Malaysian painter, A.B. Ibrahim. Having somewhat similar styles, A.B. Hassan excels in creating and romanticizing local landscapes, simply by using the watercolor medium on paper. This watercolor is an exceptional example of the artist's work. Painted to the edges of the sheet, the watercolor measures 10 5/8 x 14 3/8 inches in size. Date of creation is unknown, circa 1960s. The watercolor comes unframed. CONDITION: The watercolor is in very fine condition, crisp and clean with no evidence of fading. There are no foxing spots, no stains, and no creases.
