Description: Rhombohedron of siderite cleaved from a gigantic siderite Brazilian crystal. From Mina Sapo, town of Padre Paraiso, province of Minas Gerais. For the past several years, my favorite brazilian dealer at the Tucson and Denver shows has brought giant pegmatite clusters of feldspar, siderite and fluorite crystals weighing upwards of 100 pounds. The siderite separates easily from the feldspar and cleaves into these excellent, glossy rhombs just like their chemical cousin calcite does. Some iridescence on one side. Pleasing geometry. Heavy at 2/5 of a pound. 2 inches on a side. Sid 9.3
