This allows you to move the cage up and down a few millimeters to either make more room between the cages and your frame, or lift them up a bit so theyre easier to reach. The shape holds firmly but still allows for easy access from a variety of angles. This is an issue with tight fits, which is something when you have either a small mtb or a compact road frame.
