Description: For sale is my personal collection of all the Shenmue items I have collected over the years since the game was first announced to its release, and its sequels. I am moving soon to a smaller place and I have decided that it is finally time to sell these collectibles that have meant so much to me. Comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. FULL DISCLOSURE: These eBay listings only allow for 12 images maximum so I did the best I could to show all the items in different arrangements but I wish I could have shown more and up-close photos. If anyone needs a closer look at a particular item, or items, send me a message and I would be happy to. Here is everything that comes in this listing: - Shenmue game, Japanese Import version. Limited Edition version. 5 discs total. 3 discs are the game, 1 disc for 'Shenmue Passport,' and 1 disc for 'Shenmue Jukebox' soundtrack. [SPECIAL STORY FOR THE SIGNED ITEMS: On 11 NOV 2000 Shenmue creator, Yu Suzuki, was going to make a U.S. appearance at a game chain named, Software Etc., to promote the release of his game in the U.S. (which came out 06 NOV 2000). I am uncertain if he was on some kind of promotional tour but all I knew was of his U.S. appearance at this store location in San Jose, California. At that time, I lived in Southern California. When I found out about this event (I was working at a game store myself at the time) it was 10 NOV 2000. A co-worker and I were huge fans of the Sega Dreamcast and I convinced him to drive us all night (about 7 hours total) to get there. There were lots of people there and in case anyone remembers IGN Dreamcast writer, Anoop Gantayat, he was there too, either covering the event or just there as a fan!Everyone in line to meet Yu Suzuki was told we could only have 3 items signed total. When it was my turn I gave him my two-sided Silver and Gold paint pen to use to sign my items. The FIRST item I remember handing him was the VHS promotional tape and he said something in Japanese to his translator. His translator said, "He asked, how did you get this?" and I replied, "I got it from a friend," which I did because he was the one that owned the game store I worked for.The SECOND item I handed was the U.S. version of Shenmue and had him sign the inside front card and not the jewel case glass. The FINAL item I had him sign was the Shenmue Original Soundtrack, which is 2-discs. I opened the front of the jewel case to reveal disc 1, which he promptly signed. Then, I opened the back of the jewel case to reveal disc 2 for him to sign. A Software Etc. employee watching over the line tried stopping me because technically Yu Suzuki had signed 3 items for me at that point, but I gamed the system and told him this soundtrack is technically 1 item. Thankfully the employee didn't fight me on it there but I may have ruined the ability for anyone behind me to repeat the same antic. I once again presented disc 2 of the soundtrack to Yu Suzuki but this time I took the paint pen and turned it from the silver side to the gold side. Yu Suzuki paused for a moment, then signed it. I noticed it looked different. His translator said, "You're very lucky. He rarely signs using his special signature for fans."That's right, the famous giant "Y" looking signature is usually reserved for signing his own work only, as seen on the bottom of the Shenmue cover, and I managed to get it in gold paint on the very last item I managed to get signed!] - Original Yu Suzuki signing flyer "Come Check Out SEGA & KMEL," from the event. Apparently a radio station was also there but they were the last thing I remembered. - Shenmue game, U.S. version. SIGNED by Yu Suzuki in silver on front card cover, NOT the jewel case glass. See photos. 5 discs total. 3 discs are the game, 1 disc is for 'Shenmue Passport,' and 1 disc for 'Shenmue Jukebox' soundtrack. - Shenmue promotional VHS tape. Signed by Yu Suzuki in silver on VHS tape itself. See photos. This promotional tape was only given out to Japanese game retailers at the time. - Official Shenmue Original Soundtrack. ULTRA RARE VERY HARD TO FIND! Signed by Yu Suzuki. Disc 1 signed in silver with his standard signature. Disc 2 signed in GOLD with his RARE UNIQUE SIGNATURE!!! This soundtrack also came with a 5 FRAME CELLULOID clipping from the game as a SPECIAL ITEM! See photos. Comes with spine card. I also carefully removed this soundtrack from it's original cellophane wrapping and will include it as well because it had some unique stickers on it. IMPORTANT NOTE: This soundtrack and others in this listing are ALL OFFICIAL. Back at that time, there was a company called 'Ever Anime' which sold 3rd party unofficial aftermarket Japanese game soundtrack copies in the U.S. These Ever Anime soundtracks are pretty much worthless compared to their Official versions but as long as all you cared about was the music itself, that's why people bought them. Don't be fooled. - Official Dreamcast Magazine disc, November 2000, Volume 8. Featuring Shenmue. - Shenmue II game, UK PAL import version. 4 discs total. Complete with manuals, nothing missing. - Official Shenmue Orchestra Version soundtrack. Comes complete with track list front card and spine card. - Shenmue JukeBox soundtrack. This soundtrack already comes inside the U.S. and Japanese versions of the Shenmue game but I obtained a loose one by itself so I am including it here for a total of three. - Shenmue III for the Playstation 4. This was the Kickstarter backer version which came with the Exclusive cardboard Slip Cover. Game is Brand NEW SEALED and the Slip Cover has never been expanded from its flattened state. - Shenmue III Capsule Toy of Shenhua Ling, Kickstarter Backer Exclusive. New NEVER Opened. - TV Guide, 09 December 2000. Two (2 x) copies of this. Featuring Ryo and Shenhua Ling (TV Guide spelled it, "Ling Sha Hua") on the cover. This TV guide issue had 6 variant covers: Madden, Pokemon, Tomb Raider, Tony Hawk, Everquest, and (of course) Shenmue. - Shenmue Yokusuka, Kuming "You're My Only......" Mini CD Single. VERY RARE. This is literally a smaller CD. I would only recommend playing this CD on a player that holds the disc in the center with a "click" like the one in the Dreamcast. I do not know, have never tried, and do not recommend attempting to play this disc in a disc-tray type player, or the slit-type player where you feed it into the hole and it grabs the disc. Comes with original paper and plastic case and self-sealing cellophane outer plastic. - Shenmue NotePad featuring the popular image of Shenhua Ling on the front. VERY RARE. Brand NEW SEALED. This small NotePad measures 6.5 x 3.5 inches. - Shenhua Ling promo statue. Rare. This was a promotional item normally NOT FOR SALE by itself. Made of plastic. Stands about 6.5 inches tall. Comes with original box. - Shenmue Mini CD with Memo Pad Promotional item. Two (2 x) copies of this. Both Brand NEW SEALED. I believe I obtained this at E3. The mini CD has a Strange Shape to it or is Cut Differently. It contains some Shenmue wall papers/Screen Saver images for your PC. As with the Kuming "You're My Only......" Mini CD above, I only recommend playing this in a CD player that holds the disc in the center with a "click" like the type the Dreamcast has. Memo pad features Ryo on his motorbike with Nozomi holding him from behind, on the cover. - Shenmue Spiralbound Notepad featuring a color illustration of Ryo Hazuki and Shenhua Ling on the front. ULTRA RARE! Brand NEW SEALED. Approximately 11 x 8 inches. - Shenmue Premiere Ryo Hazuki mug. This is the first and original mug release promoting Shenmue. At that time, the game was so new that they mispelled it, "Ryou Hazuki." Beware of FAKE mugs or ones released after this one that show the same color illustration of Ryo but has the Shenmue Phoenix Mirror logo in the background. New and UNUSED. - Shenmue Promo T-Shirt, Black. Brand New never Worn. It is Japanese sized so I would guess it is American Small or Medium at most. Shenmue name over the left breast on the front and the Shenmue Phoenix Mirror logo on the back. - Vintage Shenmue Promo T-Shirt, Navy Blue by Hanes. Size is XL. Shenmue name over the left breast on the front and the cover of the Shenmue game on the back, featuring Ryo, Shenhua Ling, and Lan Di. It has been worn but is in good condition, bright colors, and little to no fading. I believe I obtained this shirt at the Sega E3 booth promoting Shenmue. - Sonic 10th Anniversary E3 Promotional Memorabilia Pins. TWO (2 x) of this. Both NEW SEALED. - Sonic Adventure Gel Pen. I received this at E3 as a promotional item. Please see photos for condition. If you need a closer look at a particular item, or need a different angle, send me a message and I will take additional photos for you. Please ask any questions before purchasing. Be sure to check my other listings and check back frequently as I will be listing my entire collection of games, comics, and other collectible items. Thank you for looking!
