Description: Actual size of art approximately 8” x 14” not including mats. We Are Pleased to Offer These ORIGINAL WATERCOLORS by WILLIAM COLLINS, NEW ORLEANS ARTIST. These Beautiful Watercolors are vibrant & colorful as they were stored away in an Ohio estate and never hung or faded from light. I am leaving original mats you can see fingerprints and paint on them, which I feel add to the character and realization they are originals. One was stored on top of the other flat and the tape marks from top work marked the bottom mat. Watercolors by Collins have been offered for as high as $900, and perhaps more via private sale. Condition is Excellent. Original matting (more of a cover sheeting) by artist (see artist's stamp on rear of matting on picture) is discolored but watercolor is fine. About the Artist: William Charles Collins (1925 - 2007) Collins painted intimate watercolors of New Orleans and the Bayou Country between 1935 and 1960. First he sold his paintings on his own in the Quarter, then displayed his work in various New Orleans galleries. This is believed to be an earlier work, as it is likely from the stamp on the reverse side that Collins sold this watercolor himself. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He also studied in Munich, Germany. He did hospital and public building murals. From 1951 to 1954, he was Instructor of Drawing at Albright Art School in Buffalo, New York. From 1945 to 1967, he was Instructor of Drawing and Painting at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. From 1967 to 1972, he was at Washington University in St Louis, and from that time was Director of the Portland Art School in Maine.
