Description: SET 2 Glasgow, UK VIEWS Oilette Series #1107.PUBL: Tuck. Framed Granite Texture This is a nice SET of 2 GREETINGS postcards from the publisher TUCK & SONS that show "Glasgow, UK". This set was first introduced in 1910, and this set is part of the Oilette Series #1107. The postcards are colorful and attractive. They have an oval in the center that has the picture, and they also have a green border around the postcard along with an inner GOLD trim border. This is a good example of publisher TUCK using other means to publish postcards. These postcards have a textured card surface on the front. These postcards have the view identified on the back: the Cathedral, and Saunchiehall Street. These postcards are "WORKS OF ART". The paintings are detailed with the impressive architecture, background skyline, historic buildings, a street scene, etc. In the street scene you can see people walking, vendors, horses, etc. This gives you a good glimpse of what life was back in the early 1900s. These postcards are UNPOSTED and would have been published around 1910 era. They have DIVIDED back. They were "Printed In Germany". These postcards were published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, who is an important and valued publisher. They published in England from 1866 through the mid 1960s. They first started with publishing Christmas cards printed in their native Prussia, Germany. They are noted for high quality postcards that have a huge appeal to collectors. Tuck's "Oilette" Series with views was first issued in 1903, came in sets, and became their most popular cards, and a standard model for other publishers. The firm was so well respected that they had the honor of being appointed by Queen Victoria in 1894 as the "Art Publishers to their Majesties the King & Queen of the United Kingdom." These are BETTER postcards and are good for a collector or dealer. They will keep their value. Often these postcards are sold as individual items for many dollars each. They are sleeved and in good condition. However, please expect some creases, stains and edge wear due to their age. The photos show the postcards and their backs. The postcards are shipped in a sturdy envelope. USA shipping is with tracking and we use eBay Standard Envelope mail when the value is under $20 (or the weight is under 3 oz); and we use USPS First Class mail when the value is over $20 (or the weight is over 3 oz).
