Description: **Easel not included** This copper enameled bowl was created by Serge Nekrassoff sometime between 1946 and 1979. Nekrassoff created the tree by "painting" on the enameled surface with fine powdered glass. The background is enameled in an ombre effect, giving a very organic feeling of earth and sky.I love how the colors of the enamel harmonize with the underlying copper color to give depth to the finish. The bowl's rolled edge gives it a high-quality feel. It is truly a piece of art! Serge Nekrassoff was born in Russia in 1895 and served in the Imperial Guard. During the Russian Revolution, he was forced to flee Russia. As he traveled the world, he became skilled in metalworking. He came to the US in 1925 and made a name for himself, creating artistic pewterware. In 1946, due to the tin shortage after WW2, he began working primarily on copper enameling pieces. Many of his pieces featured birds, one reason why this piece is so rare. He retired in 1979. Diameter: 8" Height: 1 1/4" All measurements are approximate. No chips or dents. This bowl is in very good condition, but it is vintage. Looking closely at the tree, there are some breaks in the artwork due to age. It doesn't look like the bowl was ever used to hold anything, so these do not look like scratches. There are some scratches consistent with age on the bottom. See photos for condition details.
