Description: Unique item found amongst a bundle of vintage variety and poetry items. Some were copnnected to Harry Chambers of Peterloo Poets, so it may be an old submission. It is a handwritten song or poem entitled Sandy McCallister, written by a William McCormack of 266 Crookston Street Glasgow (there used to be a Henry James McCormack, shopkeeper, at 268). It has verses and a chorus, appears to be relating to a Highlander who visits a town on holiday and insists on wearing a kilt. The chorus goes: Sandy McAllister Sandy dae you no think shameWalking doon the neighbourhood wae a pair o'legs like thameYour the worst looking Highlander ever gazed uponAva hame Sandy like a man and put your trousers on There is mention of going to a church service with a Kate McGraw, with the congregation all singing the chorus!
