Description: Mt. Kilimanjaro at Sunset (1930) Up for sale is an original etching by Paul Bough Travis (1891-1975) on cream wove paper with three deckle edges. The print is signed and dated in pencil by the artist below the image at the lower right corner. The sheet measures 7 7/8 by 10 7/8 inches; the plate, which is not centered on the sheet, 5 1/2 by 7. Published to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the print is enclosed in the original envelope that accompanied it when given as a "souvenir" in celebration of the occasion. Condition: The plate area is in excellent condition. The sheet has a couple of unobtrusive handing creases in the margins and a small impression the size of the head of a pin in the lower left corner margin, near the edge; otherwise, very good. In sum, a fine impression of a scene that dramatically depicts a snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, as viewed from a distance, etched in Travis's inimitable style. Buyer pays for USPS shipping.
