Description: Just out of a local smoke free house is this scarce original antique Currier and Ives hand colored lithograph. It is titled The Great Fire At Boston. It is listed as one of the best small folio Currier and Ives prints available. It depicts the great Boston fire on November 9th and 10th in 1872 with a view from the harbor with onlookers on boats and ships gazing at the conflagration. It is well marked. With the period frame it measures about 14 inches high and about 15 3/4 inches wide. The image alone measures about 8 inches high and about 12 5/8 inches wide. The print has some toning, discoloration, and some insect damage in the margin. The frame has its original finish.See photos as they are part of the description.
