Description: THE PRICE IS FOR ONE PLATE ONLY!!!This is an exceptional Rimmed Soup Plate/Pasta Bowl made by Richard Ginori in Italy. The plate bears the old Richard-Ginori back mark This mark was used shortly after the merge between S.C Richard (Società Ceramica Richard) and Ginori in 1896. The back-stamp has a Griffin with the Milanese flag and the shield that has a Biscione (man eating serpent) on it. I think the plate is made in late 1890's or very early 1900's The pattern is a very popular S.C Richard (Società Ceramica Richard) pattern. Richard Ginori dinnerware is sophisticated, beautifully colored and drawn, with intricate detailing, elegant shapes, and an aesthetic that is unique and Italian! The Soup Plate/Pasta Bowl is 9 1/4" in diameter and 1 1/2" deep The plate is very nice looking small roses at the border and gold rim. It is really extraordinary early plate. The plate has the characteristics of old S.C.Richard or early Richard-Ginori Porcelain. It is tick hard paste porcelain with slightly grayish look that characterize early Italian makers The plate is in very good antique condition. There could be some utensils marks and gold loss consistent with age and use. There are some manufacturing defects like bubbles and spots. Exceptional collector’s piece. Would have a place in any china collection. Carlo Ginori started manufacturing porcelain pieces in 1735 in his workshop in Doccia, Tuscany, setting the benchmark for luxury home décor products ever since. It has remained the most important Italian porcelain factory ever since. This prestigious company was run by the same family until 1896, when it was acquired by S.C. Richard of Milan and the brand was created. Richard Ginori remains the quintessential maker of sophisticated porcelain pieces and demonstrates the ability to reinterpret its iconic history through collaborations with important designers and artists, like Gio Ponti.Today, Richard Ginori is the most famous Italian factory producing porcelain dinnerware. Their handcrafted, elegantly designed products have graced museums and the tables of both the wealthy and an aspiring middle class. Their range includes all-white to air brushed and hand-painted collections with precious metal decorations. Some of their original patterns are still produced today. In 2013, the Gucci company purchased Richard Ginori 1735, ensuring that the company will remain true to its Italian heritage of producing the finest porcelain dinnerware. Porcelain is made principally from the clay kaolin, and is fired at high temperatures which causes a process called vitrification. Often referred to as china or fine china, it is renowned for its strength, hardness, toughness, whiteness, translucence and impermeability. This is a piece of history that everyone will be proud to have. Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favourites list!SHIPPING: Canada post.
