Description: This is an early 20th Century Satsuma Moriage Double Handled Vase which stands approximately 10 ¾” tall. Diameter of the top rim measures 2 1/8” with the diameter of the base rim measuring 3 ½”. Looking straight on at this vase it measures approximately 6” across. The hand painted flowers with butterflies and intricate stylized designs. The colors include gold, and white with shades of blue, cinnabar, gray, pink, teal, and yellow all on a yellowish earthenware ground. There are some surface scratches, paint loss, paint drips, area unpainted area under handles, with old dirt/dust. Base rim has one 1/8” flake/nick, with old dust/dirt on underside. Please use your zoom for close ups of my pictures, as there is nothing here that jumps out at you. Black handwritten marks on bottom rim. I believe that handwritten marks include the mark of Kutani, however, this is made of earthenware not porcelain. It could have been made in a Satsuma kiln.
