Description: Vintage from the 1950sMaterials: ceramic, china, porcelain Description:Marvelous mid century heirloom china made in Japan, this sophisticated by Sango is done gorgeously in the Platina pattern of pure snow white and grey simple banding with platinum trim. The cups especially have the classic delicateness of true china -- you can hold one up to the light and see the shadow of your hand through it. The plates and serving ware are much thicker and clearly meant more for every day use since you cannot see your hand through them and they are made with a heavier weight of china. The eye-catching platinum trim, almost zen-like subtle color banding, and overall dish design really makes this a stunner! Love the little pedestal that each cup and bowl sits on -- amazing detail that you just don't see very often in today's dinnerware. Notice how the cups even have a strip of platinum trim around the base of each cup that repeats the platinum trim around the rim, under the grey band, and on the handle? And the large rims on the bowls are as elegant as they are incredibly functional. Just beautiful! Reads: "Platina by Sango Japan," in elegant script on the bottom of each dish. Some pieces I have listed show more wear than others, but no breaks, no chips or cracks, no stains, no odor whatsoever. There are places where the grey banding and/or platinum trim has wear or usage marks, although most is not real noticeable unless you are specifically looking for it. It's pretty hard to find even utensil marks on most of these pieces, except in very bright light. View all attachments for a visual view/ description. There really isn't much platinum wear certain pieces amazingly enough! I think the previous owner may have stacked the cups one on top of the other in their china cabinet since this is where the wear has occurred.
