Description: SAMUEL PEPYS DIARY & CORRESPONDENCE - 1887 - 4 VOLUMES- MCKAY PUB. - VG COND. Click images to enlarge Description Diary and Correspondence of Samuel Pepys, F. R. S., Secretary to the Admiralty in the Reign of Charles II and James II. The Diary deciphered by the Rev. J. Smith. A. M., From the Original Shorthand MS. Life and Notes by Richard, Lord Braybooke, with Four Portraits on Steel, in Four Volumes. Published by David McKay, Philadelphia, in 1887. Four green cloth-covered boards with paper spine labels, printed on laid paper with edges left rough. Volumes III & IV pages un-cut. Volumes are in very good condition, with light soiling and shelf-wear of the covers. Spine labels toned and chipped, but still quite legible. Some roughness to the heads and, especially, the heels of the spines. Paper cracked over the inside of the hinges. A couple of the hinges slightly loose on the inside. A nice example of the style of "deluxe" editions published regularly around the time of publication.
