Good Plus. Samuel Butler wrote the first of his famous three-part satirical polemic in 1663, the second part the following year, and the third in 1678. Hudibras is a book-length poem was written in iambic tetrameter in closed couplets and is, essentially, a diatribe against the viciousness and hypocrisies of extreme religious sectarianism displayed by the Roundheads, Puritans, Presbyterians and other sects involved in the English Civil War. The "story" of the poem follows the travels and adventures of Hudibras, a Knight Errant, as he travels through different lands seeking to prove his chivalry.
