Description: Friday, the 13th SPECIAL 13% OFF SALE TODAY ONLY. (Who said it wasn't lucky?) Beautiful blue salt and tan glazed coachman's flask made by sculptor and mold maker Horacio Crotte in 1990 for the P. Wakefield & Co. of Rockdale, Wisconsin. This is the 4th flask in a series of at least 100. Please note that the gentleman figurine appears to be holding a mug or perhaps his own flask (please see second to last photo). According to the owner of the pottery, Peter Wakefield Jackson, "We made Coachmens bottles for a brief time in the early '90s. The artist was Horacio Crotte, who was a very talented sculptor and mold maker from Mexico. He rented a room from me and worked for us at Rockdale Union Stoneware. But the coachmen and other molded items were part of a small line we made in my home studio, which was called P. Wakefield & Co." The company has evolved into Wakefield Hand Made Studio, which has attracted the attention of Martha Stewart and Smith & Hawkins catalog. Please see the studio's Facebook page for more details as well as newer products for sale. Salt-glaze or salt glaze pottery is pottery, usually stoneware, with a glaze of glossy, translucent and slightly orange-peel-like texture which is formed by throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. See the last photo for a glimpse of the orange-peel finish. Standing 5.25 inches in height, 2 inches in width and 2 inches in depth at the base, this piece is in pristine condition without chips or cracks. It holds 4 ounces of fluid. The only flaw is the missing original cork. (A cork that fits will be included in the package. Please see the 15th photo. The seller suggests that the cork be scorched with a flame to give it a darker color that probably would have been used originally. In addition, this figurine might be used as a candlestick holder, please see photos 16 and 17.) Please note that in addition to the U.S. Postal Service's relatively new "Ground Advantage" lower shipping charges, United Parcel Service (UPS) and Fed-Ex are now offering lower-cost options as well. Please check each of these options to select the lowest price available. (If you prefer one option over the others, regardless of cost, please notify the seller so the option you want is used.) My goal is to delight my customers so please ask questions or request additional photos BEFORE purchase as it is difficult to answer all questions after the item has shipped. If you are interested in buying more than one item, please contact the seller before purchase so the items can be combined (and discounted) and the shipping costs can be combined (and usually reduced). The seller generally does not accept returns unless the item is not as described or is damaged during shipping. If an item does not fit, the seller may consider a return but the buyer will be responsible for all shipping costs and the item must show no signs of wear. In the event that the item is damaged upon arrival, in order to receive a refund, you must notify the seller immediately and provide photographs of all signs of damage. (1.) Photograph the package as it arrived, before opening (including photos of any parts of the package that appear damaged). Please open the package on top (where the label is) and take (2.) a photo of the item(s) as they are positioned in the package. After removing the item(s), please take (3.) a photo of the item(s) in their wrapping. After uncovering the wrapping, please take (4.) photos of any damage. USPS says: If a claim is filed because some or all of the contents are missing or damaged, the addressees must retain the mailing container, including any damaged articles, all packaging, and any contents receipted. Upon written request by the USPS, the addressee must make this proof available to the local post office for inspection, retention, and disposition in accordance with the claims decision. Failure to do so will result in denial of the claim." Other shipping companies have similar requirements. During packing, the seller photographs each layer for additional evidence to support a refund claim. If I have failed to provide you with a good product and great service, I would appreciate the opportunity to work with you to resolve any issues to your satisfaction. Thank you for looking at this item and my "shop." Your interest and purchases, of course, are very much appreciated.
