The badge is in Excellent condition.The Ryazan Airborne Command School is the most prestigious Russian military academy for airborne junior officers. It was founded in November 1918, a year after the Bolshevik revolution, and was initially an infantry command school. Soon after the German invasion of the USSR in the summer of 1941, the school was evacuated into the Soviet interior and throughout the war, kept preparing highly trained cadres for the Red Army as well as officers for the “allied” Romanian, Polish and Czech units under Soviet control. In 1957, the school merged with an airborne school and since then, focused strictly on training officers for the elite Soviet VDV paratrooper units. During its long history, the Ryazan Airborne academy was decorated with several high awards including two Orders of the Red Banner and more recently, an Order of Suvorov.
