A four-coin set, struck in .999 fine silver, features scenes from “The Nutcracker” and “Sleeping Beauty” ballets and a ballerina coin, as well as a portrait of the composer. The coins were designed by Alex Shagin, engraver with the Leningrad Mint until 1977.The four-piece proof set contains a five-ounce “Nutcracker” coin, two one-ounce ballet coins and the one-ounce 5-ruble ballerina proof coin with the double eagle emblem. An edition of 2,500 four-coin sets has been struck, but a few will be broken up to offer individual coin sales. The set will sell for $299.
