Description: A very rare Ruba Rombic fishbowl aquarium produced by the Phoenix Glass Company. Two sizes of this fishbowl were produced and this is the seldom seen smaller version (advertised as 2 gallon). These Cubist-inspired pieces marked a major departure from traditional glassware designs of the period making Ruba one of the most sought after lines of 20th century American glass. Circa 1928 mold-blown vaseline - uranium glass (glows). Designed by Kenneth Haley, son of Reuben Haley who created the Ruba line at Consolidated Glass. Bowl measures: 13 x 12 x 6.5” tall Condition: Overall the bowl shows honest wear from decades of use. Bowl has small fleabites/chips on its inner rim (all less than 0.25”). There are three internal marks - two vertical ones measuring 0.5” & 1.5” and a crescent shape measuring 0.5” in diameter near the bottom of bowl. Interior of the bowl has some cloudiness and circular scratching from being used & cleaned for many years as a fishbowl. We tried to capture detailed photos of the blemishes and are glad to provide more at request. This is a great chance to add a rare piece of iconic art deco to your collection!
