Description: This is a vintage Real Photo postcard (RPPC), unposted and featuring a view of the famous Lotus Beds at Grass Lake in Illinois. In the late 1880's, the area around Grass Lake, Illinois became a popular tourist destination to see the vast lotus beds on Grass Lake. Blossoming lotus beds constituted over half of the total of the lakes. These beds created a tourist boom until the 1940s. Eventually due to excessive human traffic, much of the lotus disappeared.
