Description: This is a mint condition Sunday's Girl doll from the Victorian Birthday Dolls range. It comes in the original box which is decorated to look like a Victorian house with a glass curved window frontage. Doll comes on a stand. The range of limited edition Victorian Birthday Dolls were designed by Peggy Nisbet and made by Royal Doulton to theme with the nursery rhyme:Monday’s child is fair of faceTuesday’s child is full of graceWednesday’s child is full of woeThursday’s child has far to goFriday’s child is loving and givingSaturday’s child works hard for a livingBut a child that is born on the Sabbath dayis bonny and blithe, and good, and gayA boy and a girl doll model were created for each day. The first dolls, issued from 1980, had bisque porcelain heads made by Healcraft, a Stoke-on-Trent pottery. Dolls issued from 1983 onwards had Doulton Nisbet Bone China heads. The dolls were constructed on a cloth body, with the porcelain head sewn on. Nisbet produced the bodies, attached the heads, and dressed the dolls.
