This is the official coat of arms (adopted in 1837) of the British Monarch currently Queen Elizabeth II. It features a unicorn and a lion. The needlepoint has a few issues. Some missing stitches but the beaded part is in good shape with only a few beads missing. These beaded crests are so hard to find these days. The crest measures 17.5” wide x 19”long at the longest part. Around the tapestry there is an antique metallic trim. It’s on black textured velvet in front and the back is a brownish greenish velvet that matches the front of the needlepoint. There is a half inch thick antique gold metallic cord around the whole pillow and two brown beaded crosses on the top corners. This pillow is huge. It measures approx. 24” x 24” with a 28” feather and down insert for a plush look and feel. There is a hidden zipper closure for your convenience. The entire pillow is lined for extra durability. This wonderful historic pillow screams royalty. If you want an instant link to nobility then casually display this pillow. Or perhaps this is your family crest for real. I’ve done a little research and have found out what certain sybols mean. The Scotish unicorn was believed to be dangerous. Therefore there is a chain around the unicorn. In the shield the first and fouth quadrents with lions represents England, the second lone lion represents Scotland and the harp represents Ireland. The motto reads Dieu et Mon Droit which means God and my right. The pillow is in newly created condition. It marries the old and historic (beaded needlepoint crest and all the trims) with the new (fabric and insert). It comes from a smoke free home..
