Shield-less handles to show off more of the "Abalonite" . . . or whatever they call it, it's nice to look at & way more durable than real Abalone (shell). The quality of these Abalone handles is truly amazing. Do you like TIGHT handles with absolutely no cracks? Look at these puppies, look at that picture showing the bottom of this knife. Yes, we love our bone handles, but they have a bad habit of warping as they age. Synthetic? Nope, none, zero, zilch, what you see is what you get. Give Abalone a chance, I'm on a crusade . . . for Imitation Abalone. Did I mention pretty? Durable? Did I mention big ole slabs of handles? Mint condition, never used, never sharpened, never carried.
