Description: ROSE MURPHY featuring SLAM STEWART - Jazz, Joy And Happiness ACETATE LP RECORD This is a very rare acetate that features alternate mixes and/or recording takes that do not appear on the commercial release! The original 1962 album was released by United Artists Records as well as the small label Big A's Records.The released album included: Rose Murphy, Slam Stewart, Charlie Shavers, Joe Jones, Ernie Hayes, Seldon Powell, Carl Lynch, Julio Calazzo, Specs Powell. 4 songs appear on Side A, while Side B is unused. Acetates like this were often given to the artists or their label to preview the studio recordings before release. While I have listened and compared the tracks as best I could, what I notice are vocals and instrumentation with different levels and clarity on this release. Most noticeably is an extended cut of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again" that features Rose and Slam going back and forth in song like a conversation, with Slam talk-singing in a baritone. While the released version is only just over 2 minutes long, has no Slam vocals, and fades out before this convo occurs. Condition: Acetate record is Very Good with some noise, but the recording is loud and clear with no skips. Due to acetate sensitivity, I have not attempted to clean the record.Record will be carefully packaged for safe travel to you.
