Description: This Rogers "Big R" Dyna-Sonic with five-digit SN was manufactured in the mid-70's in the USA. It is 5" x 14" size with 10-lug chrome over brass shell. It features the patented Dyna-Sonic mechanism with independent snare tensioning and throw operation. This example was made without the optional internal dampener, which often started to rattle with age. I purchased this drum from its original owner in 1979 and used it for solo drum competitions and playing in orchestral, jazz, and rock groups into the 90's. The signature tonal qualities of the drum were well suited to the live acoustic performances and during an amplified performance or recorded session I would add a bit of duct tape or gel dampener to reduce overtones and generate a fatter sound. The drum is in excellent working and cosmetic condition. The hoops, lugs, tension rods, strainer mechanism, and snare wire support bridge are original and work smoothly. I've replaced the snare wires with an aftermarket set as the epoxy used on the original set is cracked. I will include the original set for historical reference. I have also put on new Remo Ambassador heads. The batter side is coated and includes the Rogers logo. There are some light scratches in the drum shell and very light pitting in the chrome hardware. The top edge of the batter side hoop has some marks and wear from rim shots. Also there is a very slight deformation in the shell directly behind one of the lugs, but it doesn't affect the seating of either drum head or the tuning and it is not noticeable on the outside of the drum. I have attempted to photograph these minor flaws but they are only visible on close inspection and difficult to capture with a camera. Please carefully look at all of the photos.
