With some signs of age...Nice to frame.... Peter de Greef - Mainly made a name for himself as an illustrator for music publishers. He provided several hundred covers for the sheet music publications of Pletinckx, Ysaye, Mado, Maison Musicale Moderne, Office Musical, International Music Company and Schott Frères, among others. For those illustrations he was inspired by the music in question, often jazz and light music. He adapted the subjects and execution to the publication with great imagination and talent. He also regularly made designs for Music, Félix Faecq's jazz magazine and for the clubs Boeuf sur le Toit and Gaity. Jean Dominique Marie Joseph Van Caulaert (Saint-Saulve (France), 1897 – Paris, 1969) was a French-Belgian graphic artist. He was the child of Belgian parents and was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels with Constant Montald. He settled in Paris in 1925, where he became known as a caricaturist and portraitist in the variety show world. He designed posters for Mistinguett, Marie Dubas, Josephine Baker, Cécile Sorel, Suzy Solidor, Lys Gauty and Tino Rossi, among others.In 1951 he moved to the United States, where he worked eight months a year and the other four in Paris. He was appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor. He died at his Villa des Arts in Montmartre. Roger de Valerio (real name Roger Laviron) (Lille, 1886 – Paris, 1951) was a French illustrator, designer and painter who is best known for his posters and sheet music covers. Roger de Valerio studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1911 to 1914 he worked as artistic director at the newspaper Le Matin. From 1917 to 1924 he worked for the music publisher Salabert, for which he produced more than 2000 sheet music covers. In 1926 he was artistic advisor to Devambez for whom he produced a number of beautiful full-colour posters and in 1932 he became head of the newspaper Le Rire.
